JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (Ticker) - The 2003 American and National League All-Star Teams will be unveiled on the Major League Baseball All-Star Selection Show on ESPN Sunday at 7 p.m. EDT.
The special will feature the announcement of the starters, reserves and pitchers for the 2003 All-Star Game, which will be held July 15 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
For the first time, the outcome will impact postseason play with the winning league gaining home-field advantage in the 2003 World Series.
All-Star balloting encompassed voting at all 30 ballparks as well as Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Puerto Rico. Voting was also done online at MLB.com.
While the starters are chosen via fan balloting, a separate ballot of managers, players and coaches done during the final week of fan balloting determines reserves and the pitching staffs.
Mike Scioscia of the world champion Anaheim Angels will manage the American League team. Dusty Baker of the Chicago Cubs, who guided the San Francisco Giants to the World Series, will manage the National League team.
